A great way to improve your reading skills in Spanish as well as expand your vocabulary base is through Children's Literature. Some of my best memories are sitting down with my mother and reading about Curious George, Clifford or Corduroy (my favorite). Even as an adult, when I read to my children in Spanish, I learn so much vocabulary. I have a series of narrated stories to enjoy (en español).
